Project Description

The charge of the Gallery 5 project is the development of an interactive curation tool for an online course in American art history for high-school level students, “Museum Mash Up: American Identity through the Arts.” In collaboration with Crystal Bridges and EDC, the Tesseract team modeled and textured the 20th-century gallery (Gallery 5) at the Museum, and created an interface which would allow students to place paintings on the virtual walls, adjust their position, control the lighting, and add descriptive tags. Students can save their work, so that it can be shared with other students and their teachers. In April, 2015, “Museum Mash Up” (including the Gallery 5 interactive app) received a Gold Muse award in the Education and Outreach category from the American Alliance of Museums.
